A compact, bushy variety with stunning spikes of long lasting dark violet flowers that fade to reveal burgundy calyces on dark stems; somewhat drought tolerant; excellent for the sunny border or containers
Ornamental Features
Caramia Meadow Sage has masses of beautiful spikes of violet flowers with burgundy calyces rising above the foliage from late spring to late summer, which are most effective when planted in groupings. The flowers are excellent for cutting. Its fragrant narrow leaves remain dark green in colour throughout the season. The deep purple stems are very colorful and add to the overall interest of the plant.
Landscape Attributes
Caramia Meadow Sage is an herbaceous perennial with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other garden plants with less refined foliage.
This is a relatively low maintenance plant, and is best cleaned up in early spring before it resumes active growth for the season. It is a good choice for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to your yard, but is not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. It has no significant negative characteristics.
Caramia Meadow Sage is recommended for the following landscape applications;
Mass Planting
Border Edging
General Garden Use
Container Planting
